While all of us are working from home, a small number of the LIFE Prespa Waterbirds project team have been out in the field, keeping up our monitoring work in the wetland – strictly observing all the safety measures, of course. During these field visits one of them found great white egrets feeding in the firebreak zones that were created under the project. After the recent prolonged dry spell, the firebreak zones are now the only places in Prespa with shallow water and no vegetation where waterbirds can feed during this crucial spring breeding period.
