Ongoing monitoring of wetland vegetation

29 Jul 2019

Monitoring of the vegetation development in areas that were managed under the project in 2018 has been successfully completed, and new sampling points have been established in the areas included in the wetland management plan for 2019. In addition, monitoring was also carried out along the transects that were established last year in the transition zone between the two species that make up the reedbeds of Lesser Prespa – Phragmiites australis and Typha angustifolia – aiming to understand the short- and long-term dynamics of the two species. Lastly, fieldwork activities for this year were concluded with monitoring in the experimental plots that were created in order to guide the management and restoration of the reedbeds, as well as assist in interpreting the changes in vegetation composition that have occurred in the reedbed within the last 30 years.
