The Presplorers began the spring fieldtrips!

26 Mar 2019

The previous Sunday, Presplorers dealt with a comparison of two similar landscapes. The meeting started at the Library where Presplorers learned about satellite images and their many applications and were trained to use Google Earth. Using Google Earth, Presplorers navigated in the Prespa area, chose two similar landscapes in the rural area - old abandoned fields around a village and modern crops next to the lake- and then visited these two areas. In the field, they took notes and photographed the selected landscapes and discussed the differences between the two landscapes and where they might be due. Then we returned to the Library, we carefully observed the Google Earth images again and based on their  notes the Presplorers tried to interpret the differences of the two landscapes we visited. We also talked about the reedbed fires in the littoral zone, as in one of the areas we visited we encountered a large patch of burnt reedbed.
