Today we’re celebrating the International Day for Biological Diversity in solidarity with our PrespaNet partners!
Working together across borders, we’ve carried out a simultaneous transboundary count of Dalmatian and great white pelicans, joining forces to ensure that all the individuals using the lakes were included, in all three countries. In Greece the count was implemented in collaboration with the Management Body for the Prespa National Park, whilst the other two sides of the basin were covered by MES and PPNEA, who proposed the activity in collaboration with the National Agency for Protected Areas in Albania.
This year, more than ever before, we are all realising how important healthy and resilient ecosystems are – as the theme for the day says, ‘Our solutions are in nature’!
